It has been six years ago since I watched Brøndby play in their only Champions League ever in the 1998-99 season. How much I would like to see them there again!
After defeating Dynamo Tbilisi 0-2 in Georgia, Brøndby is only one step away from participating in the draw for the 3rd Qualifying round for the Champions League season 2005-06. However, it will not be easy. As an un-seeded team, the Danish Champions will be up against one of the following teams:
- Celtic or FC Artmedia Bratislava
- Anderlecht or Netchi Baku
It certainly does not look easy at all, although I believe (as an optimistic fan...) that Brøndby could possibly defeat the following teams on a good day: Rosenborg, Glasgow Rangers, Anderlecht, Club Brugge. Also, although Artmedia Bratislava is unknown and has defeated Celtic 5-0, they would not seem as a scary opponent to the Danes.
However, most teams are very difficult indeed, and thus, for a team like Brøndby, a lucky draw can be a giant leap towards the Champions League.

Hi Erik. It has just been published that Brøndby will play Ajax, if Brøndby wins against Tbilisi. Let us hope that BIF will show the example of FCK, who defeeded Ajax a few years ago. Have you seen that we soon have to support VFB Stuttgart?
Hi Soren, indeed, I have seen it (and I hope they show the game ehre in Accra!). Although Ajax trailed PSV last year, I believe that they have a stronger team right now than when FC Copenhagen defeated them in the UEFA. So the challenge will be higher. However, at the same time, Brondby has the ambition, and Michael Laudrup knows Ajax Amsterdam, having played there himself. Actually, Brondby's style is very much inspired from Ajax Amsterdam, and the Rinus Michels school (which Johan Cruyff also swore to while coaching Barcelona).
Stuttgart is good. They ahve always been one of my favourites in Germany, so I will have no problem supporting them. It is not Real Madrid...
